Installing DOS Versions on Windows NT 4.0 and XP

The installation programs for the DOS versions of the tests do not work on Windows NT 4.0 and XP. Below are instructions explaining how to install the programs without using the install program.

Speed & Accuracy Typing Test

  1. Copy the files from the floppy disk to a new directory on your hard drive.
  2. From the DOS prompt, change to that directory. For example, if the directory is called SATPROG, you would type: cd c:\satprog (and then press the Enter Key).
  3. Type: lha x satfiles (and then press the Enter Key).

Data Entry Skills Test

  1. Copy the files from the floppy disk to a new directory on your hard drive.
  2. From the DOS prompt, change to that directory. For example, if the directory is called DETPROG, you would type: cd c:\detprog (and then press the Enter Key).
  3. Type: det1 (and then press the Enter Key).
  4. Type: det2 (and then press the Enter Key).

Error Detection Test

  1. Copy the files from the floppy disk to a new directory on your hard drive.
  2. From the DOS prompt, change to that directory. For example, if the directory is called EDTPROG, you would type: cd c:\edtprog (and then press the Enter Key).
  3. Type: lha x edtfiles (and then press the Enter Key).
